Unable to add sites to New Tab page favorites in Brave

Hello everyone,

I’m having an issue with the Brave browser where I can’t add any sites to the New Tab page (favorites / top sites).

Whenever I try to add a website, nothing happens. The site is not saved, and the favorites area remains empty, as if the action was ignored. There’s no error message or visual feedback at all.

What I’ve tried so far:

• Restarting the browser

• Restarting the system

• Trying to add different websites

• Disabling shields for the New Tab page

None of this made any difference.

Environment:

• Brave version: [v1.85.118]

• OS: Windows [11]

• New Tab page type: Default Brave New Tab

Has anyone experienced this issue before or knows what could be causing it? Any help would be appreciated.

If you click the overflow button (three dots icon shown below) and switch to Frequently visited, do any sites populate this list?

I think they fixed it because now I can add more sites to favorites, because when I got to the third list of favorite sites it was not possible to add.

You’re saying you filled the first two pages entirely and now you can’t add more on the third screen? If so, how were you able to add that last tile shown in your screenshot?
