Trouble logging into HRBlock.com

Description of the issue: Unable to login to HRBlock.com. On the home page, I enter my email address and click the button/arrow to sing in, but it doesn’t take me to the next page to enter my password. It just goes to a blank page.

Did the issue present with default Shields settings? (yes/no) yes

Does the site function as expected when Shields are turned off? no

Is there a specific Shields configuration that causes the site to break? If so, tell us that configuration. (yes/no): No, not that I can tell. I tried various settings. But it does work in a new private window, after I clear cache.

Does the site work as expected when using Chrome? No, but it does in Edge.

In a Brave Browser New Window, go to: ‘https://www.hrblock.com/

Click the tune icon that is adjacent to the left end of the URL address field:

In the pop-down menu click on the Reset permissions button, and then Reload the webpage.

Again, click the tune icon and Enable JavaScript . . . and Reload the page.

Test the issue.

Before further testing:

  • Clear cache, cookies, history (for All time, using Basic tab at brave://settings/clearBrowserData)
  • Exit / Quit everything
  • Restart the machine

Test Brave Browser “normal” | “regular” | “standard” window versus Brave Browser Private Window. (I have seen all three of those non-Private window names, in descriptions.)

Tips regarding Brave Shields:

I have more success, with:

  • Brave Shields UP, but . . .
  • Either Allow All Cookies or Block 3rd Party Cookies, but NOT Blocking All Cookies
  • Allowing JavaScripts from specific sources, but NOT Allowing All JavaScripts
  • Trackers & Ads treatment: Aggressive (at first), and then incrementally relaxing that setting
  • Fingerprinting (aka footprinting) blocking: Strict (at first), and then incrementally relaxing that setting

I almost NEVER use:

  • All of Brave Shields UP
  • All of Brave Shields DOWN

Create a new Brave Browser user Profile for Testing

Create and use AN ADDITIONAL Brave Browser user Profile (Menu --> More tools --> Add profile) - only ← meaning, do not have any other Brave Browser user Profile tabs/windows open. When creating this new Brave Browser user Profile for test purposes, do not import anything, do not allow/enable any Brave Browser “bells and whistles” such as Brave Rewards, Brave Talk, etc. Do not add any extensions.

Thank your for your input. My tune menu does not have the [Reset permissions] button. I had to click the “Site settings” link…

, which took me into settings for that site, hrblock.com. From their I clicked the [Reset permissions] button…

Further down on that settings page, I confirmed that JavaScript was enabled…

After reloading the page, it did not work.

Then after clearing all my cache and rebooting, it did not work.

I found a different “login” link on their website, which does work for me…

Frustrating, but at least I have a work around.
