Tabs do not retain URLs

Description of the issue: URLS that are placed into tab groups do not remain there after restarting the browser. The result is that the user has to recategorize them by moving them back into the group. This defeats the entire purpose.

Steps to Reproduce (add as many as necessary): 1 - Create a group, 2 - Move a tab into the group, 3 - Close Brave, 4 - Re-open Brave, 5 - Observe that the tab is no longer in the group!

Actual Result (gifs and screenshots are welcome!):

Expected result: Tabs should remain in their placed group.

Reproduces how often: Every instance of restarting Brave.

Operating System and Brave Version(See the About Brave page in the main menu): v1.85.120

Additional Information:

What OS are you seeing this on? I use tab groups every day for work and I’m able to close and relaunch the browser or restart my machine entirely and the tabs always remain in their groups and always reappear:

Thank you for your reply. I’m on macOS Tahoe 26.2.

I’ve have two videos to upload but unfortunately I’m getting the error “Sorry, new users can not upload attachments.

The first shows the few groups that I have, each containing multiple tabs, specifically looking at the tab called investments. You can see that it expands and closes perfectly. The second video shows what all the tabs look like after closing Brave and reopening. All of the tabs have been removed from the groups. On the tab called investments, there’s now only one website contained.

I’m unable to replicate so far on 26.1. Will update to 26.2 and test again.

You should be able to include attachments now. Thanks!

Excellent, thank you again for you support.

Here at the two videos:

If you open a fresh profile (Menu –> More Tools –> Add New Profile), can you create a test tab group and try to replicate from the new profile?

Do you have any extensions installed that relate to tabs or tabs management?

Earlier this morning I also zeroed in on the possible conflict with extensions so I turned them off. Totally forgot to check to see if that made the difference and you have it right - that was the culprit.
Again, thank you for your support,
Steve
