Suddenly cant sync, show this error `Could not sync Brave on your devices`

My sync feature suddenly wont work, this happend on Brave origin nightly and beta. but works fine with brave browser stable.

i’ve tried reinstall brave origin nightly, but nothing.

Does this occur in Brave Browser (release version)?

no. brave browser stable (release version) sync perfectly fine

Oh… I forgot to mention my OS, it’s Fedora. I installed it using .rpm from GitHub, and update it using the Fedora package manager. this is not a fresh install brave origin, I’ve installed and used it for about a month.

Beta and nightly show same error sync service could ... but on nightly I click dont show again

Can you please tell me

  • If you already had Sync enabled and connected to other devices before you upgraded the browser to Origin?
  • Additionally, when exactly did you see this message about Sync? Did it appear when you launched the browser or were you performing a specific action?
  • If you click the “back” arrow in the browser shown in your screenshot, does that take you back to the initial Sync page where it says Manage your Synced devices?
  • Can you please go to brave://sync-internals and share a screenshot of what you see there with me in the DM I just sent you?

Can you also please tell me the specific Fedora build you’re using?

Yes, Sync enabled since I use brave stable. I move to Brave Origin Nightly, the first time I do is sync it.

I open and close my browser for several time, suddenly that error appear. No specific action, just browsing social media and stuff.

if I go to this brave://settings/braveSync it show this page


then I click Could not sync Brave on your devices, its go to brave://settings/braveSync/setup and show this page

And back arrow bring me to brave://settings/braveSync

@PororoManon when you synced the Nightly Origin build, did you Sync it to/with your original Brave stable install?

Additionally, did you at any point copy your profile directory from one machine to another?

Yes. my device is 1 PC and 1 Android Phone, my PC have 2 brave (stable and nightly) and Android phone use stable version. I sync all my device on 1 sync account/chain(?).

Hi, just update. I delete the ~/.config/BraveSoftware/Brave-Origin-Nightly folder, now I can do sync again. before I just reinstall without delete config folder, thats why nothing happen when I reinstall it.
