On desktop, everytime I start Brave up it always open on a new tab, even though on my setting, I have checked ‘Continue where you left off’. How do I stop it?
My Brave version: Brave 1.90.121 (Official Build) (64-bit)
My OS: Linux Mint 22.3
Does this happen on a fresh Brave profile?
There are 2 profiles with the same behavior, but there are some doesn’t have this behavior.
Note: they have the same ‘Continue where you left off’ setting.
Suggestions
Go to ‘brave://settings’ in a Brave Browser New Window (not a New Private Window) and search for each of the following, one-at-a-time:
- Tabs
- New Tab Page
- NTP
… in order to inspect all related settings and test. And also take a look at:

Possibly you need to Disable ‘Continue where you left off’ and then Exit / Quit Brave Browser. And then run the browser and test the settings … in order to “shake some of the dust” out of things, by flipping the toggle switches.
