Some websites don't render with the correct fonts

Description of the issue:

Some websites do not render with the correct fonts in Brave. For example, navigating to chatgpt.com on a fresh install of Brave on Linux has the same issue. The font displayed is similar to Times New Roman. The font it should be displaying is my UI font or the the Inter font. Times New Roman looks generic and very ugly.

I installed the Segoe UI fonts, then tried navigating to github.com, all the fonts were in Arial. Ideally, it should be in Segoe UI.

Turning off Brave Shields fixes the issues everywhere.

Exact URL of the website in question: chatgpt.com

Did the issue present with default Shields settings? yes

Does the site function as expected when Shields are turned off? yes

Is there a specific Shields configuration that causes the site to break? If so, tell us that configuration. (yes/no): yes, Ad/tracker blocking and fingerprint protection both set to Aggressive. But the issue also occurs with regular OOTB settings.

Does the site work as expected when using Chrome? yes

Brave version (check About Brave): Brave 1.89.137 (Official Build) (64-bit); Chromium: 147.0.7727.102

Please be more specific - state the particular settings that work. There is a list of Brave Site-Specific Shields > Fingerprinting granular selections - example:

Correct, in the screenshot you provided, if you turn off the “font” toggle, the websites work correctly.

Everything else (device memory, hardware concurrency, etc.) does not cause any issues.

On chatgpt.com:

The same is true for GitHub.

@LinuxGuy-cyber

“if you turn off the ‘font’ toggle, the websites work correctly”

Very likely, you solved your issue, as Brave developers of the more granular Fingerprinting controls hoped you would.

Good work.
