Thanks for trying @Colenado. Have you updated to 1.75.180?
No this is the latest version is has for me in the Play store - Brave 1.75.178
It seems like it’s fixed now in 1.75.180
, just updated and so far no issues, I will keep testing and if find any issues will let you know, thanks again ![]()
i hate this is happening but im glad im not the only one
I use Brave in the latest version and I have the bug that it turns off and apparently the bug is in the previously opened tabs, a temporary solution that works is to open the videos in new tabs.
@cyclorphan @lordshadows can you confirm that you’re on version 1.75.180?
How does one update to 1.75.180 on mobile? I don’t see the option.
It is 1.75.178 the other one is still not available to update.
Just updated to 1.75.180, on first launch after the update everything works fine, screen was not dimming and locking while playing video. But after after closing and relaunching and trying multiple times the issue is still there if my autoplay ( in brave settings) is disabled. Enabling autoplay in brave settings still works for me or using a new tab instead of the last session tab.
I have multiple grouped tabs so before i close brave i switch to a blank new tab, then when I open brave again I just switch back to my other tabs and never do any activity on that blank tab and it’s working fine for me that way for the time being.
@steeven the issue is still there, the bug is still in 1.75.180 ~
I was on 1.75.175. I updated to 1.75.178 (didn’t see a newer option) and thought it was fixed, but I was wrong. IS 1.75.180 a beta release?
@cyclorphan No, 1.75.180 is normal release. They just was doing a slow release. The update became available to me on my old Android last night. If you haven’t checked lately, I’d look to see if you can update it again to 1.75.180 if you’re not on it yet.
On 1.75.180 on a google tablet, still doing it while trying to watch my stories to get to sleep. Will try the new tab trick seen above, but far out I’ve come close to frisbeeing this thing at a wall…
The problem is still not solved ![]()
Still happening on 1.75.180.
My workaround on this still “Close normal brave > open beta brave > close beta brave > open normal brave” and it fixes but the thing is when this happens, Brave doesn’t remember where I left the Youtube video and starts from the beginning or hours back if it is too long VOD or something.
Let me start by saying thank you to the Brave team for all their work on this browser.
Even though this is Chromium based I appreciate the choices that have been provided to allow for a great user experience.
Recently I noticed as others on this thread the “Keep Alive / Open” Feature seems to have been modified.
I am on an SIM Locked Android Samsung S24 Ultra One UI version 6.1 running Android 14; Build/UP1A.231005.007 / Brave 1.75.180, Chromium 133.0.6943.126
The phone has a 30 second timeout (settings → Display)
Normally when I play you tube videos in the brave browser, the browser would prevent the phone from timing out and keep the screen on. it didn’t matter if I was in Fullscreen mode or not.
Recently the screen has started to time out and go off and the only way to change that is to increase the time out on the phone (not acceptable / impacts Device Security) or keep tapping the phone.
The video continues to play in the background with the screen off but there are times I would like to see the video while it is playing. I may have not noticed this earlier as I normally play music videos on YT in the background. So am not sure when this behavior started.
Playing the same video using Opera (Latest Version 87.6.4607.83252) works fine. So I assume it is not an underlying Chromium issue.
Hope this can be resolved quickly as I really like the Brave Browser.
Thanks Again for all that you guys do.
Same here too.
Screen locks after 60s watching YouTube.
Brave 1.75.180, Chromium 133.0.6943.126
Samsung S23 on Android 14; Build/UP1A.231005.007.
Happy to put up with it for now, tapping the screen every 30s - still better than watching ads! Thanks for looking into this dev team!
Same issue, Pixel Tablet, v1.75.180, Android 15.
Turned off adaptive brightness, continually close and you Brave, happens constantly.
The bug is still present in Brave 1.75.180, Chromium 133.0.6943.126.
To me it looks like it doesn’t tell to the system to inhibit turning off the screen.
