Saved logins in Brave's default profile don't remain after I close the browser

Description of the issue: I have multiple profiles on Brave and have saved logins for different accounts within the built-in password manager. However, whenever I save a password for a login to a site in the default profile, it disappears after closing and reopening the browser. My system has an OS password, so I’m not sure what else could be causing this issue.

Brave Version( check About Brave): v1.89.137

Additional Information: macOS Version 26.4.1

In a Brave Browser New Window, go to: brave://settings/clearBrowserData and select the On exit tab; then:

  • Disable: Cookies and other site data
  • Disable: Passwords and other sign-in data (<-- might exist?)
  • Disable: Autofill form data

… and whatever else you may choose.

Next, in a Brave Browser New Window, go to: brave://settings/shields and Disable: Forget me when I close this site

Restart.

Hello. Unfortunately, those steps did not resolve the issue. I’m also confused because I have all those options* enabled on my other profiles where Brave’s Password Manager saves logins fine, yet it won’t save them on the default profile.

*I do not have Passwords and other sign-in data under brave://settings/clearBrowserData, but it would make sense to disable that toggle if it were present.

Extensions Tests:
  • test by disabling all extensions
  • test by enabling each extension individually
  • test by uninstalling all extensions
  • test by installing each extension individually
  • test combinations of extensions
  • test order of installation of extensions
