Update: June 24, 2025
BlockSurvey (waitlist signup) is no longer active.
For Canadians:
For those in Canada, Solana (self custody) invites are being prioritized. You don’t need to sign up for anything but you will need to make sure you aren’t connected to any custodial wallets. If had been linked to Uphold, you need to reset your Rewards profile so that it is in an unconnected state and make sure you choose Canada for your country. Once this is done, you just wait and they said you should see the invite appear within a few days, give or take.
For everyone:
Solana will be a default option for everyone and no longer require an invite soon. Whether this will be uplifted or go through normal channels is something they couldn’t say with any absolute certainty. The difference is uplifting means bringing it straight to the normal version of Brave whereas normal channels would be going Nightly → Beta → Release.
Most likely we’ll see this happening in July or August, but as with all things I don’t think there’s any guarantee. It’s just the goal.
-IMPORTANT NOTE-
In the initial invites, Brave was paying to create the associated token accounts. This is not something that will continue, though they are considering different options. What this means is anyone who does get the invite and wants to receive the Solana payouts will need to have some SOL in their wallets so it can create the BAT account for you to receive the BAT tokens. They said it’s a small amount, such as like $1 USD worth of SOL, give or take. You can learn a bit more about that at https://support.brave.app/hc/en-us/articles/36396222329229-Associated-Token-Accounts-ATAs-on-Solana-Receiving-BAT-on-Solana
Android vs Desktop:
Another point they clarified is that because Android has limited support for extensions, you would need to use Brave Wallet to set up for receiving your Solana payments.
In contrast, the desktop version allows you to use any wallet to receive BAT payments.
