  • Result: Move focus/cursor to the writing place (search/input bar)

As a user, I want to press ‘/’ on the homepage to instantly focus the search bar, so that I can start typing a search query immediately without using the mouse.

Devs pls mention me when this comes to your notice.

Yes we absolutely need this.

Are you saying you want to move the focus to the address bar? Because the homepage (or new tab page), when opened, already puts the focus in the address bar. You shouldn’t need to press anything. That said, you can use Ctrl + L on any page to jump focus to the address bar.

The keyboard shortcut used for this can also be changed in brave://settings/system/shortcuts.

If the behavior you’re looking for is different than what I’m describing please elaborate and if you can share an example site that would be helpful as well.

thanks. i actually had an extension which overwrote thsi shortcut and i never discovered it.
