Please edit your Original Post (“OP”) above, in order to include:
Brave Browser version numbers
Android device info
Try:
Clearing the storage and cache for Google Play Services in your Android settings.
Uninstalling and reinstalling the Brave app to reset local configurations.
Update Google Play Services - Open the Play Store, search “Google Play Services,” and update if available.
Safe Mode: Booting into Safe Mode to check if a third-party app is interfering with the setup process.
Temporarily disable Site-Specific Brave Shields > Trackers & Ads ← this may rule out Brave’s ad/tracker blocking interfering with the login flow.
Why it happens
The popup “Google Play Services error, Tap to finish setup in Brave” appears because Brave on Android has a hard dependency on Google Play Services for certain features, including some authentication/login flows. When you try to log into Amazon (or other sites), Brave attempts to use a Play Services-backed API to complete the flow, and when it fails, it shows this error dialog.
If Play Services is disabled, outdated, or not responding, Brave falls back to this “Tap to finish setup” prompt.
The fact that you can still manually enter your username/password for Amazon but other sites block you suggests the failure is in a Play Services-mediated step (e.g., a redirect or token exchange) that those sites depend on.
PS. If Amazon offers “Continue with email” instead of a social/Play-linked option, use that to bypass the Play Services call.
