Please consider adding Tools to Image Search (like GIF search). Other search engines like Google and DuckDuckGo offer tools that allow you to search for GIFs (and other options for images). I look for gifs quite often, and dislike having to go to Google or DDG for such search. With the popularity of gifs, I’m sure I’m not alone. This would be a great addition!
BBHarperr, i have a similar suggestion for all three formats. Desktop, Android, and iOS. I would like, but realize it may cost way too much, to have a feature where a person can snap a picture on their phone upload to a Brave Feature that may be called “What’s This” or “What’s This or That” or use your own imagination as to the site feature name. It seems there is something like this on Reddit so i have been told. It is not far off from a similar feature for searching sounds like birds or other animals or many other noises someone may want identified. Don’t listen to me too much bc i do not know the ramifications of copyright and invasion of privacy issues etc. Seem like possibilities for consideration. Was told by the person who read or saw the feature on Reddit that parent of kids use it often to identify ‘things’ hahaha. BBHarperr, nice suggestion which led to this suggestion. So thank you.
This sounds a bit like the “Google Goggles” app that allows you to identify products by pointing your camera at them. Have you tried that? Is that what you mean? As for birds specifically, the Merlin app from Cornell University features photo (and sound) ID (but you may well know this already since you mentioned the idea of it).
It’s these types of useful features that Google has developed that would be good for Brave to emulate (while respecting privacy and offering security as well, of course).
And in any case: glad my suggestion sparked your thought!
I have never checked out Google Goggles or Merlin though i have heard Merlin. But yes, seeing your suggestion did spark my interest. I also found a beetle that Brave Leo (aka Leo) identified with just my description to him and was so impressed with Leo. It was a ten line June beetle out of place for where i live. I thought of Brave Software after that incredible identification by Leo how nice it would be for people to snap a pic and post it for Leo to scan and identify or for others to perhaps see it and identify but really i think it is an ai thing to do. So yes i was thrilled to see your suggestion. Keep ideas coming!!
