(I haven’t used Gxxgle products, at least as much as possible, in years (nearly a decade for Gxxgle Search) so not sure what they’ve been doing since)
EDIT: I suppose you mean “REVERSE Image Search”?
as per your message here:
…and to answer your question there, right here:
There are 100s of posts in a single week, THAT one is from 7 years ago at this point, and unlike you, most people don’t search the community often (so kudos to you for doing so) so it’s easy for MANY posts to be overlooked due to sheer volume (and quite honestly especially those posted on the weekend since Brave Employees more often take it off and it’s difficult for them to keep up, again the sheer volume in comparison to them too!)
Thanks for the response. I don’t understand the “reverse” part of it, just like I don’t understand how a “near miss” is supposed to be the same thing as a “close call”. To me “near miss” means that there was a hit, but most of society uses it to describe an almost hit, which just doesn’t make sense but what do I know?… The people of modern times are getting a kick out of molesting the English language so I don’t bother to try and figure it out, never mind trying to correct these self righteous, privileged, entitled, freaks. That could well land me in jail for goodness’ sake. I’m afraid to say much of anything in public any more because almost anything I’d have to say could offend someone. And I’ve seen and heard some horror stories about what can happen when one offends the wrong person. I grew up when offending people was nothing more than being honest and we all got over it. Some people even learned from it but obviously not nearly enough because now we have to bite our tongues when we have some advice that they might not like but could do them some good.
Anyway, I just like to be able to search for images so that I can identify things that I’m not familiar with by copying it into the search box in the browser. Firefox, Chrome, and Edge all have it but I have yet to figure it out with Brave. Granted I’m new to all of this so I’m trying to find alternatives to all the things I’m used to with Windows. I’m about to drop a bunch of questions on the Zorin people. I’ve been using Windows exclusively since 1995 and I’m finding that a lot of things that I’ve been so used to for all these years just aren’t there. Or at least I haven’t figured out how to do them with Linux. I’m sure the features exist, I just need to know how to make them work. I do like the fact that if there is anything that I need which doesn’t exist yet, that we have the opportunity to develop it and include it if we so desire. Every once in a while I will think I miss Windows… Until I remember why I stopped using it!
I will look into the link you posted above, thank you for sharing. Also I wasn’t aware this is run by actual employees, which is great. I realize it must be very busy for you all so I’ll try to save it for more complex issues and see if I can’t figure out some of the more mundane simple things from other sources. Thanks again for your time and keep up the great work!
OK, the link shows how to search for photos but that’s not what I’m looking for. What I’m referring to is being able to somehow put a specific photo from my pc or the web, network, or any location really into the search box so that the browse will get results that are the same or similar to it and include information about that particular photo. Gxxgle calls it simply “Image Search” and when you select the images tab there’s a little camera shaped icon that displays inside the search box where you can also add text. When you click on that little camera icon a box opens that allows you to select where the photo you want to search for is located. You can then select a folder on your pc, local network, or a web address and it will find other photos from the internet that match the one you selected or similar ones and will include any info about the photo you told it to find. I still didn’t see that option anywhere on the page that your link opened…
And again a few others who haven’t been given that badge by Brave employees, again, such as myself…
I just haven’t been around TOO much, more recently I’ve been around a fair bit, but I’m not an expert, I just understand how this site and most of Brave’s features function (or at least like to think so ), so I don’t really care, though I do appreciate a thanks now and then so thank you for yours haha
But most are often one off users wanting support, but that’s kinda obvious
Moving on from that…
I kinda actually gathered what you meant for this Topic from your comment over at the other Topic here: Default Reverse Image Search Choice - #2 by ByeByeWindows and I think that would be good for Brave Search > Search Feedback (since they don’t have a #Brave Search > Feature Request option) so you might consider editing your original post and adding the FEEDBACK part and/or adding your vote at the top of the Topic you commented on that I’ve added (and I’ll do the same).
Also, Reverse Image lookup makes sense (unlike near-miss ), because the Brave Search PHOTO link that I sent earlier is LOOKING FOR a photo… this is ALREADY HAVING a photo and wanting to then find more, either similar ones or find more information about it.
Just like Phone Number Reverse lookup, 1. You try to find a person’s phone number you don’t have, searching by name OR 2. You try to find who the owner is of a particular phone number you already have.
Hope that made sense, anyway hope I didn’t offend you
Not at all offended lol. It takes a lot to rattle my cage and constructive dialogue is not something that will. As a matter of fact, I really can’t remember the last time I was offended. I don’t like being attacked personally but I am good at brushing it off because I understand that each person has their on perspective on things and my sense of humor is not everyone’s cup of tea. I often say things that I find amusing that most others don’t and I sometimes seem serious when I’m goofing and many don’t realize it. I also have a reflex mode that can be abrasive when unexpected things happen, especially if I’m deep into a conversation with someone or otherwise concentrating on something and say someone isn’t paying attention and somehow disturbs me and/or surprises or startles me. I’m working on getting better with that. There are trade offs though, I don’t really care if people try to insult me or otherwise belittle me, however I don’t take kindly to people insulting others, especially my boys or my girl but anyone else either really. I don’t care what people think of me and I am not generally judgmental of others. We’ve all gotta get through our days and not everyone is easy to deal with but so long as they aren’t being unnecessarily harmful to anyone I tend to just keep to myself and give others their space. I mind my own business and wish others would have the same respect but I’m finding this a lost cause. There are just too many damn people around and it seems they all think we should be just like them. Ignorance and delusions abound and it’s not getting any better nor do I see how it will. It’s a shame to see things as they are and it’s disheartening to envision where society is headed. People of the future are in for some very trying times and it’s all completely unnecessary because we could have done so much better. We should be far more advanced than we are. I’m ot talking about technology, we are doing just fine there. Maybe even a bit too well as I don’t think things are being thought through far enough. Technology may just well be the next dominant force on the planet if humanity keeps on the path we have chosen. When greed and selfishness rule the days and integrity and values are worthless, things are not long for this world and AI has the potential to become something I don’t think most people realize, including those who are developing and pushing it. I miss the days when things weren’t so damn screwed up and you could only use the phone from as far as the wall as the cord would reach and tracking devices were only on TV. Now we are forced to carry one around with us constantly and if that’s not enough we can’t even drive a car that’s less than 25 years old without everyone knowing where we are and we can’t even pee in an alley without a camera on us. It’s totally ridiculous, especially because none of it prevents bad things from happening. It’s only here to help the powers that be figure out who did it so they have less work to do. I suppose in some cases it’s not a horrible thing but it’s way out of control and I personally find it very invasive and against any kind of actual freedom. It’s encroaching and is a violation of personal privacy unless we are couped up inside our places and even then the phones can hear everything we say and do unless we turn them off nd who even knows if that truly works. I’m certainly doubtful.
Anyway, thanks again for the response and I will follow your advice on both posting to the feedback and on the other thread that I commented on. Have a great day.
Reviving this thread because Brave Search has changed a bit since this was first asked. Image search is available now, but it may still roll out differently depending on region and whether you’re using Goggles or pure Brave results. If you’re still on Zorin OS, does the Images tab show up for you now?
