Since placing a sha25 hash is a simple alpha numerical text value, can a SHA256 hash be placed on the download page for verification of Brave browser?
@compis if you want that you can just grab from Github. For example, https://github.com/brave/brave-browser/releases
If you check the assets for each release, either from there or you can click on a specific like https://github.com/brave/brave-browser/releases/tag/v1.76.73
Once you do that, you’ll see all the file choices. Of which, you see has versions with sha256.
I know you’re asking about it being placed on the main download page, but I at least wanted to make sure you’re aware of what I’m sharing.
Thanks. I’ll give it a try
I still have a difficult time finding the sha256 hash on the github site
Finding the Linux SHA256 checksum shouldn’t be difficult. Simply navigate to the download page for the specific version you want to install, then select the appropriate package based on your Linux distribution. The file name will typically include “sha256” to indicate the checksum file.
Could you please walk me through an example for the current version 1.80.15
