@ezequias it already is supported. You can add any search engine in the world and make it your default in the address bar.
I’m guessing you’re getting confused on terminology? In Brave and Chromium browsers in general, they have Search Engines and Site Search. These are the same thing but with one small catch. Search Engine means it’s one of the default search engines that came with the browser. You can’t edit these but you can choose to remove them. They usually come with referral codes that earn the browser money for each search done.
Site Search is just anything users add. Such as if I delete Google from Search Engines and then I manually add Google, it will stay in Site Search. It only goes up to Search Engines area once I make it my default search. But if I set something else to default, it would go back to Site Search.
So you would add Perplexity as a site search and then make it default:

It then puts it up there and anything you search in the main bar goes to Perplexity since you chose it as your main search.
