Per-Tab Password Lock for Enhanced Privacy

:lion: Feature Request: Add Per-Tab Password Lock for Enhanced Privacy

Hi Brave Team :waving_hand:

I use Brave daily for both work and personal browsing, and I wanted to suggest a new privacy feature that I think many users would find extremely useful:

:locked: Per-Tab Password Lock (or Privacy Lock)

Concept:
Allow users to lock a specific tab with a password, PIN, or biometric authentication โ€” without closing the browser or switching profiles.

How it would work:

  • Right-click โ†’ โ€œLock This Tabโ€

  • The tab instantly blurs or hides content with a lock icon :locked:

  • Unlock requires entering the password or using biometrics

  • Optional: auto-lock after idle time or when system locks

:light_bulb: Why This Matters

  • Many users multitask across different contexts (work, personal, banking, etc.) within one session.

  • Sometimes we want to protect just one sensitive tab โ€” not the entire browser.

  • Ideal for shared computers, remote work, or privacy-conscious users.

  • Complements Braveโ€™s privacy-first mission and adds real-time, selective protection.

:white_check_mark: Benefits

  • Protects sensitive pages without interrupting your workflow

  • Lightweight and fast (session-based, not heavy encryption)

  • Reinforces Braveโ€™s identity as the most privacy-focused browser

This would be a simple but powerful addition that brings a new level of practical privacy to Brave.
Thank you for considering it โ€” I believe many users would appreciate such fine-grained control.

Best regards,
Houtarou Oreki
