I have a couple of tab groups set up with about 5 or 6 tabs in each. When I open the browser I have it set to ‘continue where I left off’ however it expands all the tab groups every time. It would be good to save the state of the tab groups or close them for next browser open - otherwise i have to continually close the tab groups every time i open the browser.
its already closed by default, You need to collapse it before you exit the previous session.

If you collapse the groups, close the browser and then re-open it, the groups will be expanded.
The state of the groups should be saved to avoid having to collapse them every time you open the browser.
Leave atleast 1 New tab without adding to the group and close the browser profile(after collapsing Group if you want the Group tabs closed by default(while you Reopen that Profile)).

Want to bring attention to this again because it’s still a problem, especially on older hardware.
Tab groups ALWAYS open fully expanded when a window launches, regardless of the state or focus of other tabs.
This not only creates a ton of disorganization, it bogs down my older laptops real bad when they otherwise perform just fine.
This is not the behavior I see. Tested on both macOS and Windows systems, tab groups stay in collapsed state if the browser was closed while they were collapsed (and vice versa):
Well unfortunately my machine isn’t doing that. Behold, all tab groups expand on launch.

Do you have Brave Sync enabled on that/those devices by chance?
Yes, sync is used in both profiles shown in the video.
Can you try toggling the Saved tab groups data type for Sync off in Settings --> Sync and check and see if the issue still occurs? If so, can you then try removing the device from the chain completely and test again?
If I turn off Saved Tab Groups in sync settings, the tab groups disappear completely from my device.
Tab groups that were Synced from other devices should disappear, but not tab groups created locally. So to confirm, the tab groups that are disappearing are the ones that were created on that device?
