''On start up'' option keeps defaulting to ''continue where you left off''

Hello,

Description of the issue: I have multiple times tried to turn off this ‘‘continue where you left off’’ setting and it works for a while but eventually it always seems to default back to ‘‘continue where you left off’’ when I want it to permanently stay on ‘‘open a New tab page’’

I’m an online poker player and use a web based ai model called GTOWizard to study, however having this open whilst actively playing is strictly forbidden thus want to reduce the chances of that happening as much as possible.

Expected result: For this to stay permanently until I retick another option manually

Reproduces how often: Varies from a couple days to a few weeks

Operating System and Brave Version(See the About Brave page in the main menu): Windows 11 and Brave 1.87.192

I’ve not ever had this happen to me. Do you have any extensions installed in the browser at this time?

Have a few crypto wallets installed when I transitioned from Chrome to Firefox

Can you please try creating a new/additional profile (Menu --> More tools --> Add profile) and test to see if the setting continues to reset there as well?

Apologies – to clarify, are you still using the new temp. profile created previously?

Yes still and only used the new profile since you recommended it

I’m wondering if the issue arises somehow when importing from Chrome?

Previously I was only suggesting that you create a new profile to test and see whether or not the issue persists – not for you to use it forever (not that there’s anything wrong with that).

It could be the case but hard to tell without further testing. Given how long you’ve been on the new profile, do you still want to try and resolve the issue?
