Using a standard desktop computer keyboard with “Num Lock” not selected, the associated delete button does not work in Brave. It works with other browsers and all other programmes. The other keys associated with Num Lock (eg arrow keys) work OK.
Create and use AN ADDITIONAL Brave Browser user Profile (Menu --> More tools --> Add profile) - only ← meaning: Do not have any other Brave Browser user Profile tabs/windows open.
When creating this new Brave Browser user Profile for test purposes
Do not import anything.
Do not add any extensions.
Do not allow/enable any Brave Browser “bells and whistles” such as Brave Rewards, Brave Talk, etc.
IF this test Brave Browser user Profile does not present your problem, then possibly, the profile that you have been using, has a problem . . . and that might be caused by one or more extensions, or too many tabs ← complex/conundrum.
Detailed info about testing - IF, in regard to memory and performance issues:
Over at the upper-right corner of the browser window, there is a “layered” 3-horizontal-lines, “hamburger” icon ← click on that, to get a lengthy pop-down menu. Scroll down that menu and select More Tools. An associated pop-up window will display. Select Open Guest Profile and test.
Also test with Num Lock enabled.
Just winging it, here …
In a Brave Browser New Window, go to: brave://flags and search for keyboard ← There is at least 1 experimental setting that you might test.
In a Brave Browser New Window, go to: brave://settings/system/shortcuts and search for commands or shortcuts that might somehow have been adjusted/created, that might interfere.
In a Brave Browser New Window, go to: brave://settings/content and there, look for:
USB devices and set that to Don't allow sites to connect to USB devices
File editing and set that to Don't allow sites to edit files or folders on your device
I can confirm, on Ubuntu with Brave, numpad DEL indeed is broken, but does work on Firefox. (Did not test Chrome). This is at least with Ubuntu’s default DE as shipped.
On my keyboard, numpad DEL is the only Delete key I actually have (Model F XT from 1981).
