New tab opened with CMD+T does not auto-focus search/address bar on Magic Keyboard iPadOS 26

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Launch Brave on iPadOS 26 with Magic Keyboard (perhaps any Bluetooth keyboard)

  2. Visit any website, then press CMD + T on a Magic Keyboard to open a new tab.

  3. Try to begin typing immediately into the new tab’s search/address bar.

Actual Result:
A new tab is opened, but the cursor focus is not placed in the search/address bar. The user must manually click the search bar with the trackpad or finger before typing.

Expected Result:
A new tab should be opened with the search/address bar focused automatically, allowing the user to start typing right away (same behavior as Safari on iOS or Brave on desktop).
