Description of the issue:
I’m having issues with connecting Metamask on websites other than OpenSea and other NFT marketplaces. Specifically, when NFT minting from a project’s website only my Coinbase wallet loads. There is no option for Metamask. The only way to connect Metamask is by connecting my Coinbase Wallet and then choosing Metamask. So, basically I have to connect both wallets which I’d prefer not to do for security reasons. This is a new issue (in the last week) as I have been able to previously load Metamask without having to go through Coinbase wallet. I checked the settings on Brave and have the “none” option selected for Default cryptocurrency wallet so that doesn’t appear to be the issue.
How can this issue be reproduced?
Have both the Metamask and Coinbase wallet extensions on Brave.
Expected result:
Based on my attempts, only Coinbase Wallet will appear. No ability to directly connect Metamask. I should be able to connect Metamask as I have been doing for the last several months.
Brave Version( check About Brave):
v.1.41.96 Chromium 103.0.5060.114
Thanks for reporting. We’ve just released a new browser version this morning - Release Channel 1.41.100 - #2. Can you updated to the latest version and let me know if Metamask continues not to load?
Hello Support. I updated to the latest version. I tested on the same URL I provided in my initial post. Same result. Coinbase Wallet loads but not Metamask.
@ArtSabintsev we released a new version yesterday morning https://brave.com/latest/. Can you try updating and let me know if it continues? Will send to the team right away if not. Thank you.
Whatever y’all did to tightly integrate your wallet and usurp metamask is breaking the browser. Is there a way to roll back to a version from a month ago, or feature toggle off your wallet locally or remotely?
Could you set brave://settings/wallet default wallet to None if you want to use MetaMask? Also wallet extensions are not compatible with each other for dapps usage. As a work around you can install each extension in a different browser profile to keep them sandboxed away from each other.
Hello. Setting the default wallet to “None” doesn’t resolve the issue. I continue to have to login with Coinbase to get to my Metamask account on all sites, including PREMINT, except for NFT marketplaces even with the latest Brave update.
Also, I use Brave because I feel more secure with it so using another Browser, while possible, isn’t an ideal solution in my humble opinion.
I think creating a new profile in Brave Browser is what was meant. You can follow these instructions to create a new profile: Create a new profile to help Troubleshoot.
I’d also be curious to know if in a new browser profile (or in your main one with Coinbase extension temp. disabled) if Metamask loads at all. Should be pretty easy to test.
