May 29th update: Open in Tab menu options reversed? (Android)

Don’t know if I’m imagining it, but I think the latest Brave update switched the “Open in new tab” and “open in new tab group” around?

I always touched the top menu option to open a link in a tab at the bottom group, but now it sends the tab to the background. Any chance of a menu option to switch this back to how it was?

I even have the “Only open links in current tab group” in settings enabled so all the tabs I open are always grouped below, but that doesn’t seem to work now.

I’m so used to touching the first option (ever since using Chrome) that it’s going to be a difficult adjustment if I have to touch the 2nd option now.

This, I’m so annoyed since I also got use to tap into the first option to open into the same tab group, now it open a new tab instead, which is very counter intuitive IMO.

Indeed it is! Totally breaks my muscle memory flow :face_with_diagonal_mouth:

This was an upstream change that we inherited, not a change we made intentionally.

Will it go back to the way it was before or is the change permanent now?

And are you planning to do anything to reverse this situation? The majority of Brave users on Android have been affected.
