I reformatted/reinstalled my macbook OS. Prior to that, I saved the ~/Library/Application Support/brave folder. I can not get it to restore. When I start up Brave for the first time, it creates a folder structure of ~/Library/Application Support/BraveSoftware/Brave-Browser. I tried coping the old “brave” folder into these folders, but nothing works.

How/where do I need to copy my backed up “brave” folder to get it to restore?

OS: macOS Mojave 10.14.2 (18C54)
Brave: Version 0.57.18 Chromium: 71.0.3578.80 (Official Build) (64-bit)

It is possible that you were previously using the Muon-based version of Brave? The version you just installed is the newer Chromium-based version. They don’t use the same profile data structure. To move your data from the older version of Brave to the newer one, restore the old folder to its original location, then use the importer built into the new version of Brave.
