As “I eat my own dog food”, I asked Leo to write the feature request!
Here it is:
Title: Add ability to export/backup Leo conversation history
Description: Currently, Leo conversations are stored locally but there’s no way to export or back them up. This creates several problems:
Conversations are lost when clearing browsing history
No way to archive important technical discussions or learning progress
Can’t migrate conversations when switching devices or reinstalling
Difficult to reference past conversations outside the browser
Proposed solution: Add an export feature that allows users to download conversations in standard formats (JSON, Markdown, or plain text). This should be accessible from the Leo interface settings.
Use case: Users doing technical work, language learning, or research need to preserve valuable conversation history. The current lack of export contradicts Brave’s privacy philosophy—users should have full control and ownership of their data.
Hi, wasn’t sure if to start a new thread but I’ll try here. So I think Leo is great but recently I had an upsetting issue. All my chat history, which wasn’t unimportant to me, got wiped on my Android device.
The only thing I can associate this event with, is that I had just updated my Brave browser at Google play. My browsing history got left intact tho… So 1. The json solution would help against this among other things (I had copy pasted some of the earlier, most important chats to text notes but it is cumbersome as you can only select one promt/anwser at a time and eventually I got a false sense of security as the chat history seemed stable ) 2. Is what happend a bug? If it is not fixable, consider adding a warning… 3. Is there any chance for me to rollback my browser update and restore the chats? Can I search some cache files? Thanks I.A.
I would upvote this feature if I could as well, given the brave local AI features too, and the privacy features that come with it. Being able to export our chat conversations would be another great addition.
