I have used Brave as my default browser for several years and do not wish to use other browsers, but suddenly I have a problem that requires I use something else like Chrome (UGH!).
I have successfully used the “Last Pass” password extension with the Brave Browser for several years and until the last couple of weeks never had a problem. Suddenly it has become unusable.
For security purposes, I never allow the browser to remember the Last Pass Password. I’ve had, in the past, unknown hackers that have broken in to my computers (I have at this time 10) using Remote Computer software even though I blacklisted any computers not on my personal SSID, but one day while doing something else I noticed that an unknown person was remotely controlling my computer. I turned the computer off and went to another computer to delete the Remote software, and placing an obscure Remote Computer Software that I believed the hacker would not try. I’ve had no problem since that day.
Just in the last couple of weeks when I try to open Last Pass on Brave, now Version 1.67.134 instead of a Last Brave, I get a small empty box. Clicking on the box is useless, it does nothing. I decided maybe the extension had become damaged, removed it and reinstalled. Still I get the small useless box. To login to various webpages (such as the Brave Community) I now have to use a browser in which the extension will work and I am using Chrome right now to ask for help. HELP PLEASE!
Don’t know if related but some where I know broke the last pass extension as last pass uses the first script written/referenced on the page a a ‘hook’ and when this is updated or removed it breaks. Not sure if related or not though, but perhaps Brave not ‘at fault’ and maybe your fav website code broke it?
Thanks. It does not seem to matter which website I am on when trying to open Last Pass. I just get the little box below the Last Pass Icon and, apparently, the box does nothing. I have now removed Last Pass from Brave and will reinstall when it is reported working again. As a work-around, I have installed FireFox to use when I need to use Last Pass, a very inconvenient thing to do when I will certainly use Brave when not requiring a password application.
i found a way to download Last Pass not tied to a specific browser and had Brave download this community. Of course I had to sign in, so since Last Pass is not working in Brave, I opened the Last Pass Application, signed in to it, searched for the Brave Community, got its sign-in information, launched the Community and then signed in. A lot of work to get the Brave Community to open allowing me to use the Community. I am not sure if this is better than changing browsers to use Last Pass.
Still, I’m hoping that a fix will allow Last Pass to work in Brave. I’ll try to see if I can get the good folks that write the extensions to fix the extension for Last Pass, but I suspect they will not as (so called) privacy browsers are not well liked by much of the internet community.
If anyone knows of an easier way to make Last Pass work with Brave, please let me (and others) know. Thanks.
I just checked another computer with the Brave Version 1.67.134 or 128.0.6478.186 (64 bit}, The same exact version of the machine with which I’m having the Last Pass problem.
Interestingly enough I do not have the problem with the 2nd machine, so I’m starting to believe the problem is somewhere in browser settings, maybe a security setting. I’m going to try various settings to see if I can find the problem. In the mean time, I’d appreciate help from any of you that may also have the problem which the github URL above confirms is actually a problem.
