Dear Brave Support Team,
Description of the issue:
I have Brave Browser set (and I double-checked this) to delete browsing history, cookies, cache, etc when I shut it down. But after shutdown: 1) Ccleaner reports a number of files to delete in the C:\Users\******\AppData\Local\BraveSoftware\Brave-Browser\User Data\Default\Cache\ directories and similar – files with today’s date.
Steps to reproduce the issue:
-
- Open Brave Browser, go to Settings > Privacy And security > Delete browsing data > on exit
-
Check all the types of files to delete and click Save.
-
Shutdown Brave browser.
-
Start Ccleaner and go to Custom Clean > Junk. For Brave Browser 77MB (824 files) are listed as needing to be deleted.
-
In File Explorer, navigate to the Brave-Browser\User Data\Default\Cache directory and display contents to see many, many files with today’s date.
Device information:
-
Windows Home 11 release 24H2
-
Brave Browser version: Version 1.83.118 (Official Build) (64-bit)
Expected result:
No files in the cache folder with data created today.
Actual result:
Many, many files with current date in the subdirectories under Cache.
Do I misunderstand something? If so, how do I check that everything appropriate was in fact deleted?
Thank you for your support!
Best regards,
“Zero”
