How to see the vpn button on brave browser - Macbook Air

Please provide us with the following information. Note that most users will be redirected to our Premium support form for assistance with VPN issues, as providing support may involve sharing sensitive information that should not be made public.

Type of device (Desktop, iPhone/iPad, Android phone, etc.): Macbook Air

Brave version: Brave 1.81.136

Detailed** description of the behavior: I have the browser on my Mac and it works fine. I’ve just subscribed to the VPN but can’t see the VPN button on my browser. I try using the link on my account but go around in circles; the Refresh VPN button is greyed out. Note: it works fine on my iphone 12 and I can see a (tiny) button; no such luck on my Macbook. Any help please??**

To clarify, you quite literally don’t se this button on your Macbook?

Did you actually purchase the VPN service on that Macbook or did you originally purchase on iOS?

I’m seeing it - but it doesn’t seem to function - I press it and a blue box opens with ‘start free 7-day trial’ I press that, get an e-m that says click to start trial, but nothing happens. I’ve got a subscription verification e-m from Brave, but I see nothing to suggest I’m on the VPN. Pressing that button does nothing except take me to the ‘start trial’ button. I’ve also downloaded the Bravo Beta as I’m told that the ‘original’ Brave doesn’t support Macbook OS

I can’t recall if I purchased the VPN package on the Macbook, or my iphone - it does however work on my iphone, including seeing the VPN button

No joy on the Brave Beta either…

Can you share a screenshot of what your Premium account (account.brave.com) page looks like when you login?

@Rich2 I’m guessing you bought it on your iPhone then. If you didn’t link it via your iPhone then your Brave Account wouldn’t have it registered as a paid thing, as it would only be checking and using the status via the App Store. Did you go through everything as it shows at https://support.brave.app/hc/en-us/articles/13405790544653-How-do-I-add-a-new-device-to-an-existing-VPN-subscription via your iPhone?

Thanks for your help,

I’m not sure I have an account as such - there was no prompt for it; I have a billing confirmation and billing plan; opened with en e-m address but no password…

Am I missing a stage here??

Ah I see what’s happening here.
You appear to be using a browser that is not Brave. You’ll need to login to account.brave.com in Brave browser and then the Refresh Brave VPN button will be available to click. This will load your credentials on your Macbook and allow you to use the service.

Ah…

OK, I have just opened a Brave Account with the same e-m I set up the subscription; I’ve opened Outlook in my Brave browser but I’m still seeing nothing. My Brave account (with password) doesn’t seem to reflect the subscription - but having closed it I can’t find it again…. Should it be this hard, I’m usually pretty good with this stuff tbh. Right now I’m getting a bit irritated tbh

That’s not a reflection on you btw, just that the initial instructions from Brave weren’t that clear - you’re just trying to clear up our mess, which I’m grateful for…

Your Brave account does not have a password. Please try the following:

  1. Launch Brave on your Macbook
  2. Visit account.brave.com
  3. Enter the email address you used to sign up for the subscription – you will be sent a login link to that email
  4. Go to your email and open that link – make sure it opens in Brave browser
  5. You should now be logged into account.brave.com, in Brave, on your Macbook.

Do you see your subscription listed here?

Thanks, and Hi,

OK, I hit the link - it auto goes to, and opens, my payment subscription details; no e-m link to press. I’m going to close everything down and start again. Back in 5…

So, all tabs and Brave Browser closed down. Community open (obv), and Outlook open in the Brave browser. The account.brave gives me an e-mail, that in turn a link to open in Brave - here goes…. That now shows my subscription - and the refresh VPN button is now available - here goes…

Aaaaand I’m connected!

Fantastic, thanks and if you’re in/ever in the UK I’ll buy you a beer
