Description of the issue: I would like to have my Brave showing “Who’s using Brave“ (The profile manager), so that I can choose which profile I want my Brave to show when launching, just like how Google Chrome would, when launched on startup, in Windows.
How can this issue be reproduced?
Launch Brave in my Windows 11 OS, via the taskbar.
Expected result: Shows the “Profile manager” for me to choose which profile I want to launch/start.
Brave Version( check About Brave): Brave version 1.82.161 (Official build) (64-bit)
Additional Information: Additionally, it’s showing “Chromium 140.0.7339.80”, as well as saying “Brave is up to date“.
@ofayto umm, click the button for it on the profile manager? I’m questioning because this seems too simple of an answer. Not sure if you’re referencing something else?
I can’t see that button on my build. I use Ctrl + Shift + M hotkeys to show this Profile Manager (No idea if this helps with anything, but just adding in, just in case).
Thanks for providing the extra information. I had forgot the checkbox wouldn’t exist until the second profile is made. It is a weird design but makes sense I guess.
Anyway, glad to hear was able to get it figured out for you.
This further discussion might go out of topic, but if we’re diving deep into UX, the design is considered bad. This is because:
If someone isn’t technical enough, they would not even be able to locate the Profile Manager. I assume Profile manager was first presented when a user installs it initially (though I forgot whether if that’s the case, because I installed mine ages ago. I just assume it does, hence my first initial profile was created).
So what happens is, if a user (again, non-technical as the assumption), after creating the first profile, decides to go frenzy browsing with their first profile, closed the browser, and then later on, decides they want to create their second profile, they can’t find the place to create it without this “Greeting“ page.
They will then have to search around or ask for ways to achieve this, when in the first place, could be all avoided, simply by just allowing this “Greeting“ page to present itself.
But then again, this would be a feature request, not a discussion to be held here, so I’ll just leave this thread closed. Thank you once again for the great help
