You can invoke a specific search engine using a keyword. For example, typing “g:” in the address bar routes the search through Google, and anything entered after the keyword is searched using that engine.
I’ve already used this feature successfully on a desktop and would like to apply the same feature to my mobile, android device.
In the mobile Brave settings, I navigated to General > Search engines. On a desktop, you have an option of Manage search engines and site search, which allows search engines keywords. However, such as feature doesn’t seem available in Brave mobile.
Is it possible to use search engine keywords in Brave mobile?
@Anonymoususer1 as 289wk mentioned, Android doesn’t have a way to edit search engines or add custom shortcuts. Android is most restricted of all the devices Brave is on at the moment in terms of what people are capable of doing in it.
That said, if you go to Settings → Search Engines → Quick-Search Engines you can activate the quick search bar and choose search engines from that. It’s been a while since I used Android, but if I recall this should have a little menu part where you can quickly click to choose the search engine you want to use. This would be the closest option
Are you suggesting the feature doesn’t work in Brave at all? Currently, I’m using that exact feature successfully on my desktop Brave browser. I can type a keyword into the URL address field to use a specific search engine. My original question was whether that is possible on mobile Brave browser.
