So last month I got a new phone, I installed brave as that was the browser i was using before hand. I have had my previous phone for quite a while and because of that it has a large search history, I want to recover/back it up, i tried syncing but my search history wouldn’t show up, only my recent tabs. I need to give my old phone to my dad as his phone doesn’t work with his car, making it impossible for him to answer calls legally in his car, but my old phone does work with his cat. When I give my old phone to my dad, it will be factory reset. Is there any way i can transfer my search history from my old phone ( a redmi note 12) to my new phone (a CMF phone 1) without it being lost after a factory reset on my old phone.
On mobile, see Settings > Sync and ensure history is checked (it might be the 1 default checked of 4 available kinds of data to sync). Add a device to the sync chain via that settings page, and once it’s had time to sync over all the history, you can remove the old device. (I’m on iOS, making best guesses as to settings layout.)
Visible on desktop
On desktop, brave://settings/braveSync about:settings/braveSync (chrome-internal links can’t be hotlinked to)
On desktop you can also view brave://history/syncedTabs or brave://history/ / History > Tabs from other devices to see what’s in the synced history that should be available on a new device once you add it to the Sync Chain.
Note well
Chrome/* only keeps history for 90 days. IIRC, this behavior was implemented by the Google Chrome team, as a tradeoff for user privacy or practicality of navigating.
