Hide address bar and tab bar in full screen mode

I am using Brave on MacOS Tahoe and perhaps I am simply missing a setting, but it would be nice if “full screen mode” actually used the entire browser window, and hid the address bar and tab bar when the user scrolls or otherwise interacts within the web page (clicks a link, selects a text field, etc). When I click the green “maximize” button, only the Mac toolbar (Brave File Edit View History Bookmarks Profiles Tab Window Help) rolls away and disappears, but the address bar remains visible. I would prefer the address bar and tab bar to disappear as well. The address bar and tab bar should reappear when the cursor moves to the top of the page (or extreme left/right if vertical tabs are enabled), and disappear when the cursor moves toward the center of the screen. Basically the web page should be rendered similar to full screen YouTube, but have the address bar and tab bars available when the user needs them, but gone when not needed.

+1 Want to see this feature - similar to how Helium/Orion have implemented it

In Brave, go to Settings > Appearance and toggle the Always show toolbar in full screen option “off”. This will give you the desired behavior. If you hover your mouse at the top of the screen, only then does the toolbar get displayed.

This isn’t working for me, also on Mac OS Tahoe. I have disabled Always Show Toolbar in Full Screen:

But the toolbar still does not appear if I hover my mouse at the top of the screen. The title bar appears, but this doesn’t give me access to the address bar.

What this means is that there is no way to type in a web address in full screen unless I enable the Always Show Toolbar in Full Screen setting (which I do not want).

Am I missing a setting somewhere? I am running the latest version of Brave:

If the show/hide feature isn’t supported in Brave, is there simply a way to type in a URL when

  • in full screen
  • Always Show Toolbar in Full Screen is disabled

?

I have tried the usual shortcut ( + L), but it does not work in this scenario.
