Graphics acceleration

Description of the issue: If using graphic acceleration option and I move cursor to the video area the acceleration is turned off but will come back in a second or 2 if there is no more movement of the cursor. (This issue predates the current browser version, so it’s not just the current version)

How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. turn on graphics acceleration option,

  2. open any page that will play a video

  3. move cursor to video

Expected result: continued acceleration, not switching to slower graphics

Brave Version( check About Brave):

Brave is up to date
Brave 1.81.135 (Official Build) (64-bit)
Chromium: 139.0.7258.127

Additional Information: ASUS Q540V, windows 11 updated,
Intel Isis Xe Graphics (non accelerated)
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 6GB (accelerated)

I’ll volunteer and see if I can get some information about the browsers status. If you go to brave://gpu, what are you seeing for this section?

Also, if you scroll down a little, which GPU is showing up here?

On my personal system, it was defaulting Brave to the iGPU for some reason and not my dGPU, but when manually set via Windows, it was corrected.

(As long though as the correct GPU is actually rendering the browser, then the upper half is where I’d start. My screenshot is from my personal system, but you may see different things than I and that’s completely normal from one GPU to another, and one config to another as I have changed my browser to use Skia Graphite to fix color corruption bugs on Radeon GPU’s).

Thanks for the help. The feature status is the exact same but the other part is different since we have different hardware. And the rest of that part is a very long list of parameters that I don’t know what they are for nor do I want to know. I also noted that I have a section of ‘Problems Detected’ that I don’t know how to include my screenshot here, I see no link and this is 1st time use of this forum or any forum for that matter in a very long time to deal with tech issues. (I was s/w engineer back in 1970s-80s with mainframe op sys and comm development) I have no desire to get into this level of detail to debug. The issue is definitely with Brave as it doesn’t occur in the Edge browser. I don’t use Chrome itself anymore. Also, I can eliminate the issue by using a setting in an ASUS provided utility that will set the NVDIA gpu and eliminate use of the Intel gpu. Maybe the issue is because I use multiple desktops in win 11 and usually have a browser open 2 or 3 of them. I only use Edge when Microsoft forces it on me, lol.
Hopefully a Brave tech will see this and chime in without asking me to try this, that or that.
