Hi fanboynz, can you please explain what you mean by “will disappear only when the tab is in focus”? I am having this issue with Google Cookie consent after clearing browsing data. Both Easylist Cookie and Fanboy’s Annoyances are enabled in Brave Shields (which are set to aggressive). Happens on both the desktop and mobile versions with only one tab open.
We have a trusted click to reject, requires the window to active, in focus to work. I can confirm it works here, currently in the EU where I’ve seen it disappear. Used in both Annoyances and Easylist Cookie
Thanks for replying. It is still happening for me, both on mobile (Android) and desktop (Windows, both PC and laptop) versions even after fresh installs of Windows and the browser to discount those. Blocking all Cookies on Google (as opposed to third-party) stops it. uBlock in other Chromium based browsers with “Easylist/uBO - Cookie Notices” enabled also stops it (see it briefly then it’s gone). I’m not sure what has changed as this was working until a few days ago. I did also try using a VPN to change IP address as I noted you said you were in the EU (I am in the UK), but the popup still persisted unless I used a location outside the EU (where I’m guessing the Cookie Consent isn’t required).
Hi amelia1. I tried this and it did not work for me unfortunately. When you say enable “Fanboy’s Cookie List” do you mean “EasyList Cookie”? If so I have that enabled and then added the custom filter you recommended (I’ve added a screenshot below), but I’m still getting the popup. As per my previous post, uBlock in Chrome/Edge/Vivaldi with “Easylist/uBO - Cookie Notices” enabled stops it.
@fanboynz I’ve included a screenshot below when I right click the “Reject all” button to inspect (had to edit my post due to being limited as a new user).
to custom filters, but still receive the popup. Unless I’m putting the above line in the wrong place I can’t see why it wouldn’t work. I tried reinstalling Brave to clear the profile in case that was affecting anything, but am still receiving the message. This is happening when Brave is the only application I have open in Windows 11 and I go to Google.com by typing the URL in the address bar from the new tab page (with no other tabs open).
Basically it will auto click after 1500ms. The google page will need to in the foreground, in the active tab. It won’t auto click the google consent in the background, or non-active tab
Looks like a change upstream in uBO, Gorhill has been notified. No eta. But good to know its not Brave specific. I’ll update the thread when a fix lands
It seems to work for me when using uBO in Chromium browsers with “EasyList/uBO - Cookie Notices” checked and everything else left at default after installing the uBO extension.
I’ve linked a video showing this, which is exactly how Brave using the inbuilt adblock was behaving until recently (I reinstalled Brave again, removing profiles before installing uBO and making the video).
Looking in the uBO logs, the below lines show up when the popup is closed.
