Description of the issue:
Brave blocks while waiting dismissal of a modal popup that doen’t show
Steps to Reproduce (add as many as necessary): 1. 2. 3.
Just surf to https://lokeren.bibliotheek.be
The page is shown, but is immediately darkened while wainting for the popup. Actual Result (gifs and screenshots are welcome!):
The modal pop-up does show shortly but disappears before one has time to click on it.
I have added lokeren.bibliotheek.be as a site that is allowed to show pop-ups:
Please tell me that there is some (temporary) workaround so that I con use Brave to surf to lokeren.bibliotheek.be
I must somhow avoid that the modal dialog gets dismissed before I can click it.
Is there any setting to acjieve this?
@guivho yeah I see what you’re seeing. It looks like the pop-up is the cookie consent notice that many sites show these days. It looks like Brave’s Shields are blocking the notice from appearing but only cosmetically.
Going to rope in @fanboynz for this as he should be able to submit a fix for this.
It’s even worse than I realized. I kept getting Cloudfare ‘Prove that you’re human’ pages whenever i clicked a link from a mailing list of standaard.be, a newspaper I have a paid subscription for. I got these Cloudfare pages while I was’t logged in to standaard.be. And I can’t login while the popup doesn’t show. Which I didn’t realize. But this caused the Cloudfare pages, and I can’t avoid these while I can’t login.
It’s difficult to explain on this list, but try to defend Brave to your surrounding when this situation is bothering you…
I’ve been too fast to declare this solved.
The problem I described on Jun 17 with the Cloudfare pages was gone, so i was so happy to report this. But it’s back…
And the bibliotheek.be problem is also still there
While waiting for a Brave solution, I used a Chrome extension to export the missing cookies from Chrome and import them into Brave. So I can now again use Brave to consult https://lokeren.bibliotheek.be and the Brave solution is less urgent as far as I am concerned. I’ll use this same work-around for any other sites that have this problem in Brave.
Tomorrow it will be two months since I reported the problem. Today, I still have to use Chrome on my mobile to visit this site. On my PC I can use Brave while I used a Chrome extension to copy the cookies from Chrome to Brave. Maybe I should try to do that also on my mobile. But hey… that shouldn’t be required, isn’‘t it. So please, fix this…
@guivho they should update the Shields filters, but just so you know, the workaround is to drop Shields to accept the cookie notice. Then you can enable Shields and it works again. But indeed shouldn’t need to be that way.
