Frequent Automatic Logout Issue on Brave Browser (Linux)

Description of the issue:
I am experiencing a recurring problem with the Brave browser on my Linux system where, after a few days of normal usage, I am suddenly logged out of all my accounts across multiple websites (such as Google, ChatGPT, Facebook, etc.). This happens without any manual action like clearing cookies or cache. It becomes inconvenient as I have to log in again to every account.

Steps to Reproduce (add as many as necessary):

  1. Log into multiple websites (Google, ChatGPT, Facebook, etc.) using Brave browser

  2. Use the browser normally for a few days

  3. After some time, open the browser and notice all sessions are logged out

Actual Result (gifs and screenshots are welcome!):
All logged-in sessions are cleared automatically, and I am required to sign in again on every website.

Expected result:
Login sessions should persist unless manually cleared by the user or due to explicit settings.

Reproduces how often:
Happens intermittently, typically after a few days of usage.

Operating System and Brave Version (See the About Brave page in the main menu):
Linux (Fedora), Brave Version 1.88.136

Additional Information:

  • No manual clearing of cookies or cache was performed

  • This affects multiple websites simultaneously

  • Issue seems to occur randomly after normal usage

  • Could be related to cookie/session handling, browser cleanup, or system-level processes

[This is my first time asking for help on this platform, so I hope you will kindly forgive any mistakes I may have made.]

One or more cookies might be stale or a problem, so, in a Brave Browser New Window, go to: brave://settings/clearBrowserData, and using the Basic tab, for Time range > All time

  1. Enable Cookies and other site data
  2. Enable Cached images and files
  3. Click the Delete data button
  4. Exit / Quit everything
  5. Restart the computer

Next, in a Brave Browser New Window, go to: brave://settings/clearBrowserData and select the On exit tab; then, Disable: Cookies and other site data

Next, in a Brave Browser New Window, go to: brave://settings/shields and Disable: Forget me when I close this site

And, in any login / sign-on webpage window or webpage pop-up where/when you encounter a “Remember me …” control checkbox / switch, do not enable that. Because, that selection is NOT reliable; it depends upon parts, for example: persistent cookies, session restoration tokens, and device fingerprinting ← one or more of which, actually might not persist.

Also test …

Create a new user Profile for Testing:

Create and use AN ADDITIONAL Brave Browser user Profile (Menu --> More tools --> Add profile) - only ← meaning: Do not have any other Brave Browser user Profile tabs/windows open.

When creating this new Brave Browser user Profile for test purposes

  • Do not import anything.
  • Do not add any extensions.
  • Do not allow/enable any Brave Browser “bells and whistles” such as Brave Rewards, Brave Talk, etc.

IF this test Brave Browser user Profile does not present your problem, then possibly, the profile that you have been using, has a problem . . . and that might be caused by one or more extensions, or too many tabs ← complex/conundrum.

  • test by enabling each extension individually

Way to many captchas after every single search after updating to Brave 1.88.136 (Official Build) (64-bit) - #15 by 289wk

The idea, there, is to try and improve the persistance of “YOUR ID” - from the website’s point of view - re whatever are the browser, software, and hardware ID pieces of info that websites now fuss about, sent by the browser to the website.

Thnx for your advice , I will test it out
