Feature Request: Move the Brave Shields icon inside the Page Info panel

I would like to request an option to consolidate the standalone Brave Shields (Lion) icon directly into the existing Page Info / Site Controls menu (the slider icon on the left side of the address bar).

The Reason: Keeping a standalone Shields icon on the right side of the address bar takes up permanent horizontal space on the toolbar. In day-to-day browsing, users rarely toggle Shields on or off frequently once their preferences are set. Keeping it permanently visible adds unnecessary interface layout objects.

The Proposal: Move the Shields toggle and blocking metrics directly inside the Page Info dropdown panel.

Expected Behavior:

  • Improved Address Bar Space: The standalone Lion icon is removed from the URL bar, immediately freeing up horizontal space and reducing toolbar clutter.

  • Centralized Controls: All site management tools—Connection Security, Cookies, Site Settings, and Brave Shields—are unified under a single, clear interactive panel when clicking the Page Info icon on the left.

I like the current style.

An option for users who do not prefer the shields button would be a nice addition.

This is currently in progress, but users complained about this appraoch. You can enable this in brave://flags/#brave-shields-page-info

and set it to enabled:

Thank you for this. Loved it! It now sits inside the page info.

The Brave icon inside the 3-dot menu serves no actual purpose; it’s just a visual mark. Future updates should introduce a toggle to hide it completely and declutter the interface.image
