Evolving Tab Groups: Towards Dynamic Workspaces & Enhanced UX – A Feature Proposal

I’d like to initiate a discussion about the potential of Brave’s tab group functionality. While the current implementation is useful, it doesn’t fully realize the potential for creating dynamic, personalized workspaces.

The core idea is to shift the perception of tab groups from simple organizers to integrated workspaces – curated collections of tabs, web tools, and resources that represent specific projects, tasks, or areas of expertise. The key is enabling quick and seamless switching between these workspaces as needed.

Currently, the UX falls short in several key areas:

• Device Synchronization: Tab groups are not synchronized across devices, creating a fragmented experience.

• Visual Clarity & Quick Switching: With many open groups, the interface can become cluttered and overwhelming. An “Accordion View” (showing only one group at a time) would significantly improve focus and enable rapid context switching. This “Accordion” approach would allow users to quickly jump between different projects or tasks without distraction.

• Workspace Persistence: Groups are lost when the browser is closed. Saving and restoring workspaces would add significant value.

• Tool Integration: The ability to integrate web tools (e.g., note-taking apps, project management dashboards) directly within a workspace would further enhance productivity.

What features would be essential to transform Brave’s tab groups into truly dynamic and empowering workspaces? What UX challenges do you foresee, and how could they be addressed? Specifically, how can we best facilitate that rapid, intuitive switching between workspaces that the “Accordion View” enables?

I’d like to initiate a discussion on how your post is very clearly AI, and you clearly didn’t give it a very close look-through.

A few key areas very clearly gave this away.

• You failed to put in your own username in Thanks, [Your Username]
• Everything after that was an AI trying to help you write a revised version of this message.

Besides that, a lot of these features you are asking for are already integrated into brave, you just have to go looking for them in settings as they are not on by default, while other require some set up. The only one that I don’t think is apart of brave is the web tools, but those are what addons are for.

Next time, when creating a post, please put a little more thought and effort into it.
