Data theft by brave ( maybe)

I am not using Brave but still why is my Brave browser consuming so much data?

  1. Not downloading Or brawsing anything on brave

2.Data consumed :- 96gb in last three hour

  1. Last date (I used brave) 14.02.2024 5.46pm

  2. Not watching anything on brave

Brave version 1.62.162

Note :- brave also consumed 460gb in last 15days without any heavy data uses

Can you please tell me what OS you’re using as well as what you are using to measure the data being used?

Country - india
Measuring through- inbuilt data usage option (application wise) + my jio application data usage details

@Sanskar Could you share a screenshot? Also, is Brave closed entirely, or is it simply not focused? If it’s closed entirely, what tab(s) do you see when it is opened?

It is not data theft brave interacts with MacOS mds and will eventually use all available memory, even when idling and not being used.

You have to force quit mds within “Activity Monitor”. I routinely free 30GBs of ram. The system just gets slower and slower.

Reverting back to safari solves the problem.

I have reported this issue and all I got was “crickets”
