I have my browser theme set to Dark Mode. When I browse in a normal window, Dark Mode works as expected. However, if I switch to a private window, Dark Mode no longer works.
Description of the issue:
How can this issue be reproduced?
-
Set the browser theme to Dark.
-
Visit a site like YouTube or Reddit. Notice that the background is dark on those sites.
-
Open a private window.
-
Visit YouTube or Reddit again. Notice that the background is the default white.
Expected result: The sites should appear in Dark Mode even while in a private window.
Brave Version( check About Brave): 1.85.117
Additional Information: About a month ago, there was a glitch in Brave where normal windows would randomly appear in Light Mode even when Dark Mode was selected. Although that issue appears to have cleared up, it might be connected to the issue I am observing now.
Hmm, I’m unable to replicate this at all. I have the same version of Brave as you. Are you on Windows 11 25H2 like me as well?
(Just to ensure I did this right.)
I wonder if something in your profile might be a little corrupt. I wouldn’t know where to look beyond here, but someone else might be able to pick up from this point but: If you create a second profile on Brave and test there, does the issue also happen on the new test profile?
No, my Windows is still on 24H2. I just created a fresh profile for testing, and the problem still occurred.
I also checked my laptop that has Linux installed (Ubuntu 24.04.3), and it is having the same issue.
What extensions do you have installed, and have you changed any flags under brave://flags or chrome://flags? (Since Brave responds to both).
Since you can reproduce it under a new profile and different operating systems and I cannot, it must be something either changed or installed most likely.
Currently have Bitwarden, xBrowserSync, and Buster Captcha Solver extensions installed and activated. Deactivating them does not make any difference.
The three flags I have enabled are Enable Cosmetic Filtering, Enable Ephermal Storage, and Enable First Party Ephermal Storage.
