Description of the issue: Privacy protection selections involving “Daily usage pings to Brave” do not respect user selection to NOT send these pings
How can this issue be reproduced?
Set daily usage ping setting to Off (i.e., do toggle it).
Browse using Brave Browser.
Check your DNS filtering solution logs (for example, I use the Adguard application for my ipad and iphone.
I didn’t see it happen for me but since you added the link I took a look and found it in the DNS Filter 1Host Lite if you wanted to at least temporarily use a stop gap for it.
Not that you really want that to block something that should be stopped if you’ve decided to just turn it off anyway and if there is some kind of leak it’s definitely worth looking into but you can find and add 1Host Lite in the links below if you care to.
Also, as with pretty much everything Brave does, for and with their users, it’s done anonymously anyway, so it’s not like it sees anything about you specifically, it’s just a “Hey someone is using Brave” note to the Brave Team.
