ChatGPT voice recording fails only in Brave Browser on Windows

Hello Brave Team,

I would like to report what appears to be a compatibility issue between Brave Browser and ChatGPT’s voice recording feature.

Environment

  • Operating System: Windows
  • Browser: Brave (latest stable version)
  • Website: https://chatgpt.com

Issue

When I try to record and send a voice message in ChatGPT, the recording fails and an error message is displayed.

The exact same feature works correctly in Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge on the same computer.

Troubleshooting performed

  • Restarted the computer.
  • Cleared cache and cookies.
  • Performed a hard refresh (Ctrl + Shift + R).
  • Disabled all extensions.
  • Tested in a Private Window.
  • Created a completely new Brave profile.
  • Tested with VPN enabled and disabled.
  • Confirmed that Windows detects the microphone correctly.
  • Confirmed that microphone permissions are granted to Brave.
  • Verified that ChatGPT voice recording works normally in Chrome and Microsoft Edge.

Expected behavior

ChatGPT should allow recording and sending voice messages successfully.

Actual behavior

Recording fails and ChatGPT displays an error when attempting to send the voice message.

Based on the testing above, the issue appears to be specific to Brave Browser.
