@Mattches wanted to tag you as this user may have discovered something, as it’s in relation to: https://github.com/brave/brave-browser/issues/52527#issuecomment-3948134459

Notice they mentioned Step 3 here does actually work, albeit temporarily. Also noticed in that GitHub post someone recently found a way to even replicate it:

Seems related but this user did find an interesting fix that’s temporary, and thus far we hadn’t found a way to even workaround the problem. Between the two discoveries, maybe Brave has more data to work with than previously?

Yes thank you for flagging this, I haven’t had the time to make my github rounds yet. Going to ping a specific dev on this now to make sure they’ve seen it as well.

I added some notes to the Github to assist, including the findings here and one someone on the report did as well.

It seems there’s two workarounds that bring it back, the one found here on step 3, albeit temporary, and apparently deleting “Web Data” which is more permanent, but also wipes saved payment methods and addresses (so not a good solution for us to give to users).

Kinda weird, I mentioned more there that might be relevant but left that on Github to keep the thread clean.
