Hello, I have a problem with the Nightly browser. When I try to enter the search engine name (e.g., google.com , www.google.com , bing.com , etc.), the name of the search engine I want doesn’t appear. I’m trying to enter it at brave://settings/appearance, as shown in the screenshot below. I hope this problem can be fixed.
Broken on stable now as well, same exact thing.
You tagged both Windows and Linux, but I am on Windows.

I’m able to replicate on Release, Beta, and Nightly. Don’t see the same behavior in Chrome. Created a Github issue for it:

OS/Desktop
### Description
When trying to enter a custom site as a Homepage at `brave://se… ttings/appearance` it bugs out and inserts text like mT蒫? once submitted.
I did search.brave.com and it entered as -Ҁ?ۺۺ
If I use the Home button, it goes to Dashboard despite having something else typed in.
### Steps to reproduce
1. Go to `brave://settings/appearance`
2. Enable **Show home button**
3. Enter a custom address
4. Hit enter or click elsewhere
### Actual result
Text changes to nonsensical characters and does not work.

### Expected result
Address would be saved and when hitting the Home button, it should go to that address.
### Reproduces how often
Easily reproduced

That’s right. I hope the developers can fix the symbol problem. Thanks.
Yep, looks like this occurs across all platforms. Opened this issue to track:

Oh, I had already made the one I linked. I just closed it rather than leave a duplicate.

@Chocolate @MasterLink @patataman figured I’d give a heads up, but I see they closed the Github and seem to have a fix on the way. Looks like it should arrive in 1.87.xx and all.
And it’s fixed in Nightly
