Can't access MATIC coins

I just created a Brave wallet. I sent $50 worth of MATIC from Kraken, and BOUGHT $50 of MATIC through the Brave recommended purchase option/widget (debit).

Both transactions have shown as going through on chain.

Yet my wallet balance shows ZERO MATIC.

Yes I have polygon network as visible (box is checked)
