Cannot use the export Bookmarks feature on Android 11

Google play says Brave is up to date
Android 11 on Samsung Galaxy A21 model SM-A215U1.
Android settings, “Permissions” options for Brave :
Files and media: the only two options are “Don’t Allow” and “Allow access to media only”, the latter is selected.
All notifications are on and allowed.
To duplicate every time:
Launch Brave.
Go to Bookmarks (this applies to any area or folder in Bookmarks - I tried them all).
Select three dots; select Export Bookmarks.
there is a very short blink on the screen as if it is trying, then nothing.
App does NOT freeze up, NO notification delivered.
I checked Notifications history in Android settings, including system UI notifications Nothing at all is reported concerning Brave
if I tell Brave to “Import bookmarks” it takes me to a screen to select a file manager, and shows me there is no html file available, which is correct.
There is no change in these results no matter which bookmark folder I launch the export option from. Same for import.
I cannot even see the files located in Android/data, because Android 11 does not allow it.
Nothing in Downloads from Brave, no HTML files at all.

Exporting bookmarks does work on a tablet I have using Android 14. Works great. Permissions selections on the tablet allow access to files, instead of only “media only”, like on the Samsung phone.

Thanks for any help.

IF you are determined to get your bookmarks as a useful file, that you can save - free for use on BB and other Internet browsers . . . what I would do (but there other suggestions online):

See info re using GoodSync, that would help you get your hands on the Bookmarks JSON file:

In bookmark manager: copying a bookmark deletes other bookmark with same target - #5 by 289wk

And then, how to effectively convert that file to a “bookmarks.html” file:

In bookmark manager: copying a bookmark deletes other bookmark with same target - #7 by 289wk
