Brave browser android may 2025 update, one bug is “BOOKMARK NOT EXPORT”.

Yes, the Export Bookmarks functionality no longer seems to be working.

I exported my bookmarks last on 04-21-2025, and several times prior to that the past 6 months.

This seems to be a recent bug.

Please fix.

@user-ua : great it’s working for you in Android 15, but I can confirm it is broken for me also, with my device running Android 12.

I tap “Export bookmarks” and nothing happens.

It doesn’t allow me to upload a screen-recording or screenshots on this site, but I have uploaded some here:

None of the following versions I’ve tested has this feature worked in:
→ Brave (Release): 1.79.123
→ Brave (Beta): 1.80.108
→ Brave (Nightly): 1.81.86

I’m guessing it must just be an issue on older versions of Android.

NirmalKumawat and doulos737 : are you both able to confirm which version of Android the phone or tablet you have Brave on is using?

Can confirm this also still works fine on my S24 Ultra on Android 15 (Brave 1.80.115, Chromium 138.0.7204.97).

Checked in my downloads folder, and the html file is indeed there. Opened the file in an html editor and the contents are correct.

Hello,

I too am experienceing this export bug on Android ONLY on the Fdroid version of Brave. The Google Play version exports fine.

As a BTW, the Fdroid version fixes the bug of disappearing, unrestorable tabs that the GPlay version still has - are these Brave versions night-and-day different?

Now nothing will export at all on my Brave :expressionless_face:

Got it! (for my issue)

If you imported to “Bookmarks Toolbar”, there well be nothing to export. Move EVERYTHING into Mobile Bookmarks and voila! She exports fine.

The Fdroid version has better compression - file size 1.4MB vs. 5.2 MB for GPlay version.
