Tool calling is not working for supported BYOM models via remote API. Heck, the documentation surrounding is pretty much non-existent. I couldn’t find a single thing on the internet about Leo’s Tool Use toggle for custom models. The models i used were mistral small 4, gpt 5 mini, etc… none of them worked. The only thing that worked was Brave’s own Claude Haiku. Also, what exact tools can we call for? Haiku generated that it can do web searches, news and faqs. Is this correct?

We’re expanding our server-side tools currently but yeah right now those are the three server-side tools we offer. I’m afraid they aren’t available for BYOM users just yet as we can’t really control the search API usage with BYOM models, but we do have some ideas on how to open it up for BYOM users as well

Nope. Im on 1.90.122 the toggle for tool use is there but models cannot access them. The ones that are shipped with brave work fine.

That’s for client-side tools I believe, not the server-side search-based tools
