Bug: Element Picker (Block Element) is unresponsive on Android

Hello Brave Support Team,

I am experiencing an issue with the “Block Element” tool on the Android version of Brave. When I have manual CSS/uBlock filters added in the “Content Filtering” section, the “Block Element” selector stops working and fails to highlight or pick any elements on the page.

However, when I clear all my custom filters, the tool starts working again perfectly. It seems there is a conflict between the custom filters list and the element picker engine.

Device: Android

Site example: novelsparadise.site

Please look into this bug. Thank you.

@MostafaSayed can you confirm that this occurs on other sites? I notice that in order to use that site at all you need to have Shields down.

Can you please test the element blocker w/custom filters added on a common site (lets say wikipedia.org for example) and tell me if the issue occurs there as well?

I tested the “Element Picker” on other websites like Wikipedia, and it works perfectly fine even after adding custom filters for those sites.

It seems the issue is specific to novelsparadise.site. When I have custom filters active for this specific domain, the element picker becomes unresponsive only on this site. This suggests there might be a conflict with how the site’s script handles overlays or how Brave’s engine interacts with this particular domain’s structure.

Any advice on how to debug this for this specific site?

Let me see if one of our Shields guys can take a look here. Either way good to hear that the blocker isn’t broken entirely for you.

The anti-ad overlay fix for novelsparadise.site will be in shields soon. next few hours.

Which custom filters specifically cause issues? Or does adding any custom filter at all causes issues on that website?
