I am using the latest version of Brave on my Windows 10 laptop. Over the past week I keep getting the browser completely close down after I click on a search item to open it and today even when I scroll down a page. It’s become unusable now so I am sending this from Firefox. When it closes I open it again and a message tells me it didn’t close down properly and do I want to restore pages. I want to use Brave but no longer can until this is resolved. I’d appreciate any assistance.
@danny1199,
Do you have any extensions installed in the browser at this time? Also, if you launch a Private window and browse normally, do you get the same result or does the browser stay open (or at least open for longer)?
I have Metamask and Privacy Badger extensions and have disabled Privacy Badger and tried it but get the same result. Opened a Private Window but before I get a chance to search, that shuts down too.
Just been back on, restored pages, and immediately closed You Tube, the last site I was looking at, and so far the browser has remained open.
@danny1199,
Hmm, that seems to point to a specific action/site/item that is causing the browser to crash. You say that the last site you were looking at was Youtube – if you return to Youtube now, does it cause the browser to crash?
Yes, every time. I have just clicked on a link in an email to see a video and once the video started it crashed the browser again.
@danny1199,
Can you try disabling Hardware Acceleration in settings to see if this resolves the issue?
Settings --> Additional Settings --> System --> Hardware Acceleration
Out of curiosity, are you using nightly @danny1199 ?
If so, the forum post I’ve provided here goes more in depth:
However, if you are not on Nightly, is it on any other sites than youtube that it crashes?
I read your above reply in an email that I opened in Brave and every time I clicked on the github link you provided the browser shut down. I’m now replying via Firefox.
