Brave shields element picker doesn't work on YouTube Shorts video page

I’m unable to pick an element inside the YouTube Shorts video page. I can initiate the element picker and hover over things, but that’s about it. The only thing I can click is the floating down arrow and the sidebar, but that’s not what I want to pick.

I want to block the comment button and the label below all action buttons, but I can’t do that because it won’t let me.

I don’t know if this is a bug or just a limitation of the tool, but I hope it’s improved in the future. It’s quite frustrating from my perspective when a tool that appears to be working as intended doesn’t do anything.

  • Brave Browser version numbers

To block/hide the comment button of the typical YouTube Shorts video page

In a Brave Browser New Window, go to: brave://settings/shields/filters and scroll down to Create custom filters ← where you can add the rule (I made 2 lines, the 1st to indicate the date, the 2nd is the actual filter rule):

Then Exit / Quit Brave Browser. Then run Brave Browser and test.
